We flew from Albany to Washington DC (Reagan) and then on to Raleigh where the family picked us up. Our flight departed at 5:30am, and on the way there Dad missed an exit and Avery threw up all over herself as we were pulling into the airport (car sick) so we didn't end up getting into the security line until about 5, which, with bottles of milk and a stroller, is NOT enough time. Of course my stroller sets of an alarm, and while I'm getting
Once at the beach, Avery's reaction to the ocean was less than happy, she hates to get her hands dirty, which makes me think she's not my daughter, so her and the sand did not get a long.
She did however, attach herself to cousin William's shovel and had to have it wherever she went. Made for some adorable pictures.
Grandpa took her, kicking and screaming, out into the water a few times and the last time, she fell asleep for about 30 min while Grandpa just held onto her and let her float, so sweet!
The resort also had a large water slide which I took Avery down once. I was hootin and hollerin and telling her to hold on tight, the slide was fast! She wasn't phased, those who were waiting at the bottom said her facial expression never changed, cool as a cuke that one.
The rest of the week flew by, with the highlight being the pirate cruise we went on and got to shoot Captain Hook with water guns and steal his gold.
On the return trip my stroller did not set an alarm off and it was a much smoother journey. Our second flight had two other babies, a 15 mo old and a 16 mo old, both of which fell asleep, Avery, of course, did not. She kept flinging things at the flight attendant, when I asked if I could store her in the cargo space he replied, "She's so cute, she should be considered an accessory to any outfit your wearing." To which at that moment, I wanted to reply, well you can accessorize all you want, but held back considering I didn't want to have to make an emergency landing to deal with DSS.
