Disciplining an 8 month old?

I see the look in her eyes. Those big baby blues staring back at me, understanding the word no, twinkling, then doing exactly what I told her not to do. Usually she laughs at me. If she were four she'd get spanked, if she were 10 she'd get grounded, if she were 18 I'd kick her out. But what, pray tell, am I supposed to do to an 8 month old? I don't think taking away her sippy cup will have an effect. Proverbs 13:24 states "Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them." Okay I got that...but what age am I supposed to start using "the rod." It's in my closet collecting dust, waiting to give someone a good smack. Some ladies in my small group told me its all about redirection, but now that she can move, I can redirect her all I want and she still ends up with the playstation cord in her mouth. And what gets me is that she KNOWS what no means. Hey mom, remember how stubborn I was...er...am? Go ahead and laugh now, I'm pretty sure my daughter is one stubborn...donkey.

Here's her 8 month pic!

You know when to invoke Biblical discipline when it is WILLFUL defiance. Discipline is for teaching right behavior. Explanation first, discipline second, hugs and kisses the rest of the day.

Stubbornness for Christ is a good thing.

love you Avery!

It's really about exotic animal training but has tips that work on humans. Not sure how you feel about spraying hot sauce on the play station cord. lol.
