We have friends!

If you have ever moved you know how challenging it can be to meet people.  Especially if you've ever moved anywhere mean North.  Avery and I being the social butterflies that we are, made it our mission to make friends before we'd lived here a month, and we've succeeded!

I found this website called CafeMom, where you can go and meet mom's in your area.  It's kind of like craigslist but instead of listing old crusty couches for sale, you list your old crusty self.   And also like craigslist, there are crazies you gotta watch out for.  After weeding through a few Mom's, sounds horrible I know, we've managed to meet one mom whom we really like.  We already had a playdate and this past Sunday our families went to Windsor Lake...er...the "Fish Pond" as locals call it, and grilled out and swam.  Their daughter is 4 and is very nice to Avery. We have another playdate with them tomorrow and Thursday they are going to watch Avery for me so I can go get my tooth knocked out...that's another story.  They are a Christian family also, and I truly believe God put us in each others paths.

We also went to a birthday party Saturday for the little girl I am going to start nanying (that's not a real word, I know) for.  Talk about awkwardness.  We were amongst about 50 friends and family of this little girl and no one wanted to introduce themselves, not even her father.  It's not that they were rude, just indifferent.  I pulled out my southern charm and Rob threw Avery down the slide into the pool several times, providing much entertainment for the ol' blue hairs elderly folks. I'm sure they're feeling very confident about the care I'm about to provide their children.  I really like the Mom though, she's incredibly friendly and it was so nice for us to even get invited.

Friday I'm going on a girls night out to dinner with several women I've met on CafeMom.  Honestly I don't care if they all point at laugh at me, I'm just looking forward to sitting down and eating with out having to chop up my food and feed it to the little person beside me.  I love her, but man oh man does she eat all my food!

I'll let ya know how the playdate, dentist and girls night out goes.  Tata for now.
